As we welcome the dawn of 2025, China's international "circle of friends" has sent warm wishes to mark the occasion. Erik Nilsson, a seasoned American journalist who has been telling China's stories for 18 years, recently expressed his hopes in fluent Chinese during an interview with China News Network, wishing all his Chinese friends success, good health, and happiness.
Linjie Chou Zanadu, a Chinese scholar and associate professor at the European Center for Peace and Development, highlighted China's rapid technological advancements. He predicted that Chinese electric vehicles will expand into more developing countries, becoming synonymous with advanced technology and reliable quality. 毛宁指出，香港国安法制定实施的三年，正是香港从由乱到治走向由治及兴的三年，也是国际社会对香港前景投下信任票的三年。23条立法通过后，香港高质量发展和高水平开放将得到更好保障，广大香港市民和国际投资者都将从中受益。美国自己出台了大量维护国家安全的法律，却对香港《基本法》第23条立法泼脏水、贴标签，完全是赤裸裸的政治操弄和虚伪双标。
报道提到，去年《预算案》提出增加烟草税，即时将每支香烟的烟草税调高6毫，并按同等比例提高其他烟草产品税率，即调高31.48%。加税后每包烟大约72元至80元，税率占比超过六成。
